415 N Sangamon looks very nice. Just goes to show a very functional tower can also be interesting.

I am very excited for 640 W Randolph. That parking lot needs to die a horrible death. And then once that's done, we need to restore Haymarket Square to provide a walkable connection across the Kennedy.

I like that one, neat looking. At least it's not a total box.

On another note, is the AON Center renovation happening this year? The CTBUH took it off the list of completed Chicago buildings and has it as a proposal again.

Can't say I'm thrilled by that redevelopment as I love the AON Center as is but the deck on top will be neat.

Is there a thread for that one?

Fan of this building overall. I recall they were going to try to save the brick building with the arched red doors but unfortunately don't see that in any of the renderings: https://chicago.urbanize.city/post/p...415-n-sangamon

It's the dark brick box on the long side of the building that is partially obscured by the trees in the view above. They are flanking it with two modern brick facades following the same design. What I can't tell by the renderings is if they are actually saving the facade and have just poorly approximated it or if they are merely replacing it with modern construction in the same style. Also as such a simple building those red doors and arched windows are pretty essential to it's current character.

Per the meeting, that's still the plan.

From the plan commission presentation:
Preserve & repair an FMID designated character building facade.
