I took a crack at correcting the east-looking render from the SLS website by reinserting The Drake. Not sure how much is perspective, but it looks super-skinny when compared to our trophy buildings.

Oh nice job! That's alright, it draws the eye out to the fringes of the skyline, which I appreciate. One of the things that sort of bugs me about our skyline is that it's very clumpy.

Clumpy works at the street level though. Sure, it's no Houston stretching to the horizon, but Philly's tight weave makes it walkable, urban and interesting.

Exactly. How a building affects a skyline just isn't a concern for me at all. Skylines make pretty pictures but I'm much more concerned about what a building is like when I walk past it than how it looks from a few miles away.

Oh I definitely couldn't agree more with you guys. I'll take street engagement over pretty skyscrapers any day of the week.

You will not see it come down right away. There is some abatement work that has to be done prior to demolition.

Letters in lower right corner of photo. Kind of a double entendre.

No, just a play on words. There's a picture of "ME" in the bottom right.

There was chatter about permits posted in August and work done on site. My assumption was that it was for the asbestos abatement but looking at the posts, it involved concrete and blocks. Perhaps they thought collapse was imminent. Maybe ConstructStudent can shed some light on status if he's got anything to do with this one.

I'm not sure about the work that occurred last year, but I am 100% sure that abatement will be taking place before the demolition starts. The crew should be mobilize in the upcoming days.

Abatement is underway and the permits for abatement were granted in December. I should start coming down next week. Workers were on site cleaning out the taller of the 2 buildings on site today.

Talked to some workers onsite this morning. They are hard at work on abatement/mediation. They are not exactly sure when it will conclude and actual demolition will begin.
