The Toronto region is really going gangbusters. It's not just downtown. It looks like the whole metro area is growing rapidly. I'm not sure if there is anything like it in North America. I'm guessing Toronto is putting up more buildings than the NYC metro area right now?

From the Globe & Mail newspaper, this huge venue is proposed by OverActiveMedia to be built by 2025. The 7,000 seat venue and attached hotel is estimated to cost half a $Billion.

Last month the Design Review Panel unanimously supported the redevelopment proposal which includes the addition of a 61s rental tower and 5 additional floors on top of the existing office building.
The panel was particularly enthusiastic about the public realm plans which dramatically improve the present (hostile and inaccessible) site.

According to the October 2020 RLB Index of construction cranes, Toronto now commands nearly one third of all of the active cranes in the U.S. and Canada.

Given recent activity, I’d guess-timate the 124 cranes figure identified, is likely now headed near the 140 mark. Even more surprising, if suburban cranes are included (Mississauga, Vaughn, Markham etc.),
the GTA total is nearing 400 construction cranes.
