There's what looks like a crawler crane next to the construction site. Anybody know what that's about?

I believe as something to do with the renovation of the Intercontinental Hotel across from the Weston Center.

Thanks. Now the crane is on a tower, so make that a luffing crane?

I found some articles mentioning the renovation, but no renderings or indication that the look of the building might change. Anyone have info on that?

Some additions on the back of the building will be removed.

Drove by on my way to the airport today.... (sorry no pictures worth posting), but the impact this thing is having on the skyline from the south is pretty phenomenal. It adds some much needed density and bulk (without being overly bulky itself) with Frost, Weston around it.

It's adding density to that area from all angles. Coming from the North on 281 looks pretty nice too, but there's still that somewhat dead spot between there and and the Tower, Rivercenter and Grand Hyatt to the Southeast.

Coming in from the West on Hwy 90 looks nice too.

For the foreseeable future, the only hope of filling in that gap is the Hemisfair condo/hotel development. The Alamo takes up a fair amount of land and has the zoning limitations around it, plus La Villita, the Riverwalk and Rivercenter Mall take up a lot of space.

Forgot to take a photo but I was on San Pedro Creek last night and it looks great from there too. Now, that's mainly because it's a parking lot wasteland so the view is unobstructed. But still, it's nice.

True Jack. That's why I was hoping for a tear down of the now old CPS Energy headquarters, and something of height there. That property has access to both La Vallita and the River.

^^ Nice, Raul.

It's a seemingly small thing, but that window glass really helps.

And for such a nice building, the Frost garage is hideously ugly. But at least there are a lot of trees in the area, including the ones along the creek, which should grow nicely.

So it looks like this already had its topping-out ceremony yesterday (saw some social media posts from the architect and general contractor)
It appears that they just started on that last residential floor, but there should be a bit more height added with the roof level and of course that mechanical crown
