I can also see the tips of One Bennett Park and Vista Tower peaking out. I'll try to get some pictures of those and post them in their threads.

^ Really no way of prettying up that building, short of a complete recladding or full scale demolition, none of which are happening anytime soon.

I'll take the dead baby blue over the Taco Bell vomit taupe. At least its a change of scenery

It's horrendous. The original building is actually decent, at the very least honest. it's all these vague attempts at "changing the scenery" over the years that have made it looks downright horrendous.

I'd argue that the addition of windows a few decades back (possibly late 90s?) to the floors below the hotel portion constituted a massive improvement.

Up until pretty much this year the backdrop for that photo would have looked nearly the same.

This may be a dumb question, but what will they do with the void in the floorplates when it's time for the tower crane to come down? Wouldn't it make sense to build the tower crane in an elevator shaft?

The holes from the crane will usually be filled in like the bracing in the garage. They put some stubs of rebar in and pour that small section of floor. Can't be that easy considering how many projects go to great lengths to mount the crane on the outside - sometimes cantilevering it out over the sidewalk.

The elevator shafts are constructed using climbing forms, a crane through the middle would be a tight fit. There is however a style of crane that climbs up the elevator shaft a few pours behind the forms.
