South American systems are proving that gondolas can move people; are cost effective; quick to erect with minimal disruption to the city. The La Paz system sees 500,000 trips a day. (unclear how that is tabulated) There is a place for them.

La Paz seems to be an interesting case study. Its topology does seem well suited for gondolas as other types of systems could be hard to build. Otherwise, to traverse tough terrains such as steep hills or mountains, or a river with varying heights on each side or a significant gorge then yes, a gondola could be the cheapest, easiest and most efficient option.

In the case of that future Hull rendering though, a gondola parallel to a bridge (that will be replaced and might very well include a tram, along with the rebuilding of the already excellent active transportation deck), it's unnecessary.

There are far more appropriate places like Zibi, LeBreton Flats or Confederation Park. That location is just weird.
