LOL does look the bow of a ship. It's definitely an odd stepped construction decision. My only guess when I pass by the oddity on the bridges is that it is due to the bridges that they need to finish the head or "bow" of the building first.

Cheers,
G.

This building is borderline absurd.

My hope is that it's amazingly impressive in person due to the $$ finishes and Foster's attention to minute, textural detail.

But as far as art as architecture? This one feels like a huge, polished turd. It might have a strange, monolithic presence on the hospital district skyline.

Careful, you are going to garner the attention of the "IT'S WHAT'S ON THE INSIDE THAT COUNTS!!!!!" crowd.

We know guys, that doesn't mean it has to look like a 70's cruise ship coming to port.

This thing is massive in length and two cranes will be needed to construct it. Very impressed with it actually. Here's some photos I took:

this thing is weird and kind of awesome; those models give a different perspective that makes it look more modern and less like DiscoCruise 1978. thanks for sharing the pics.

The cladding on the model gives me reason to hope.

The shape makes me think of that CHoP building that went in down the street a couple of years back.

on the infor sheet it mentions both tunnels and bridges, and this is the first I've heard of tunnels connecting the various buildings. I wonder if it would be possible to do away with the bridges completely and just use the tunnels, which could be much larger then the bridges. Why? I think the bridges take away from the look of the buildings, they look tacked on, and not like part of the plan.

Same as the model. I think this won't look too bad. The corrugation adds something and the color echoes the Museum's.

It seems like a lot of steel is being going to be used, but the mentions any tonnage cannot be found anywhere...
