In Winnipeg, murals tend to correlate with areas in decline. You don't see too many murals in Tuxedo...

Are they the owner or just the property manager? In many, maybe even most cases, the property manager just runs the building on behalf the actual landlord.

News reports at the time of the rooftop sign application all said they were the owner and the media is never wrong.

murals are an urban thing.

in winnipeg, almost all urban areas are in decline.

so, it seems like murals are somehow an indicator of decline.

this is not the case everywhere else.

selkirk and main saw a building redone
where connys was

vinyard church rehabed the old haevest building into husing and their church really nice inside

then u had nichee witch the baby boomer manigers drove into the ground when they coulda made a real go at it. well aware of what happend real piss off.

right beside the tracks kinda hiden inless u look for it is the old cpr canada post building now the social enterprize center

I didn’t know West Broadway, St. Boniface, and Osborne were in decline... Hell you can argue Downtown and West End are not in decline with the amount of investment the area is receiving.

More Southwest Winnipeg stuff

2 new proposals are going to be presented to the Assiniboia Community Committee today.

1. This proposal replacing the existing single family-homes on 347, 353, 363, and 365 Oakdale just across the street from Charleswood middle school which will be rezoned as an RMU for a 3 building, 270 unit proposal. Their are two 5 story buildings and one 7 story building.

2. Replacing three duplexes, this proposal is a transit-oriented development on the intersection of Chancellor and Gaylene (939 to 949 Chancellor) and a 1 minute walk from Chancellor station or McDonalds. This will be a 7 story building and contains 95 units.

I assume that any kind of Charleswood development taller than two storeys will trigger a full on NIMBY standoff...

Full NIMBY mode for that Oakdale one. Edit there's some kind of building and parking lot on the site already. Maybe not full NIMBY mode. "but the traffic" will be it.

It's the old Plymouth Brethren compound. It's an Anabaptist colony-type religious group in the area. They own a bunch of houses and businesses around there. I don't know if they relocated or what's going on.

There’s a sign up on the best western at York and Hargrave indicating it’s a hotel conversation to a Hampton Inn by Hilton. Didn’t snap a pic but there’s a rendering that was pretty inoffensive. Nothing spectacular
