Doesnt seem like it... they are installing these at NORD facilities all over town but i would imagine if the system gets abused too much they will start to charge ?

We've reached a monumental milestone in the RTA Canal Street Ferry Terminal project with APC Construction, LLC. The wharf side of the terminal is officially open! The permanent berthing is now open and passengers are using the final barge location for boarding the ferry. Stay tuned for more updates on this project as we near our grand opening next month.

Hello everyone, I am a first time poster and I recently discovered this page and have spent many hours enjoying the discussion.

I just wanted to share my thoughts on some items I am excited about:

Gayle Benson seeks help for St. Louis Cathedral, wants direct flights from MSY to Paris

https://www.nola.com/news/politics/g...af633013f.html

New Canal Street Ferry Terminal opening next month

Return of the Rampart to Elysian Fields line by April 2023

MSY flyover completion in the summer of 2023

New Orleans to Mobile, AL Amtrak line gaining momentum

New Orleans to Baton Rouge line gaining momentum

Westbank to New Orleans East Bus Rapid Transit study starting

I hope some others are just as excited as I am. Feel free to add items or discuss.

Affordable apartments for elderly residents, veterans planned for Federal City

https://www.nola.com/news/business/a...b77df2b63.html

Plans for a new residential development at Federal City in Algiers are taking shape, after years of failed initiatives and spotty progress.

Earlier this month, the Algiers Development District, the government agency that owns the 200-acre former military base on the Mississippi River, received the Louisiana state approval it needs to move forward with construction of a new apartment complex, with 70 one- and two-bedroom affordable income units targeting elderly residents and military veterans. Groundbreaking is scheduled for June, and construction is expected to take about 18 months.

I hope this comes to fruition, but I'm skeptical given how much time has gone by talking about Federal City but not doing anything. It kills me that we don't develop housing on the West Bank more. We should be able to have apartment and condo complexes with beautiful views of downtown, which would fill a huge gap in that type of housing in the immediate metro area.

Yes!! I've said this for years. So much untapped potential on the West Bank. Oakwood Mall/the vacant land around it should be so much more. We need a visionary to make it come to fruition.

Does anyone have any updates on these 5 projects? All are in the Mid-City area.

1. The Coca-Cola building on Norman Francis
2. The YMCA on Norman Francis (they broke ground, and now it's just sitting there)
3. The vacant lot adjacent to the new Melba's on Tulane Ave
4. The vacant lot on Tulane Ave next to the old JAX Brewery
5. What are they building on Tulane Ave--a corner lot near Carrollton? Construction is taking place

thanks, yall!

Harrah’s Food Hall
Located just inside the Poydras street entrance, the previous Harrah’s Theatre and buffet is being transformed into a Caesar’s Food Hall dining area. The 12,000 square foot space will feature four separate food venues; three of which are occupied by specialty vendors. The Caesar’s Food Hall project also introduces an additional 8,000 square-feet of “flex” space for many different gaming options over the next two years of renovations.

Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine resides in the Tidewater Building located in downtown New Orleans. Rome Office has been asked to envision a new ground floor program which includes a student commons area, lobby, gallery, and auditorium. Our proposal focuses on the mission and values of public health to provide a gathering place for students and faculty while creating a synergy with the emerging upper Canal Street corridor.

The Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine resides in the Tidewater Building located in downtown New Orleans. Rome Office has been asked to envision a penthouse addition above the 25th floor that provides the School with an amenity space to host events and meetings. The intent of the addition is to exploit the unobstructed views provided by the building’s location within the urban context. The brise soleil system of horizontal aluminum fins and vertical fritted glass panels protects the glazed facade from solar radiation throughout the entire year without impeding the 360 degree views of the New Orleans skyline.

This may have been answered before and I missed it, but is the 955 Howard building in any danger from falling debris from the tower across the street?
