Fair enough. For rentals those are decent, but I wouldn't exactly call that amazing either.

Aside from the floors, the rest of that looks terrible. And I'm a big fan of white kitchens. This just looks so depressing the way it was done.

It's a common strategy to scatter the listings, and save the priciest for last. Driving up the price of the less pricey units will help you get more for the penthouses. If you sell the penthouses first, you've already capped how much the most expensive units in the building will fetch.

Anyone watch Robert AM Stern on Chicago Tonight last night? Phil Ponce did a good job. I was not that impressed with Stern. He could at least sit up straight if he's going on TV.

Also watched it last night, and I completely agree. I thought Stern was pretty arrogant. It did't seem to me like he really cared about the city he was building in. He also completely dissed Chicago's modernist buildings, which I thought was a bit insulting. Whole interview was very informative though.

NYC is to Art Deco what Chicago is to Modernism. Each city is the style's respective heavy weight in the country/world? I wouldn't take it personally. He's from NYC. I'm sure he grew up thinking, "THIS is how buildings are supposed to look."

Personally, I wouldn't mind another one of his towers, but in actual limestone and with a copper roof.

I think OBP is actually quite a sophisticated design (no doubt designed by talented employees). Having said that, he must be suffering from Alzie's based upon that interview. That's not the former dean of the Yale architecture school talking, but some sort of bitter, misogynist (only Mrs.'s hang curtains?) proposing a totally baseless and indefensible thesis...

Or maybe it's just his personal preference. Have you ever talked to architect junkies who love modernism and when you tell them you're not a fan, they get downright mean and condescending? He probably bumps heads constantly with arrogant modernist lovers who dislike traditionalist architecture themselves, so he has likewise adopted a hard hard for the style he prefers.
