Red River College

Anybody know anything about what kind of future expansion the college has in mind for the downtown campus? there was recent posting for an EOI on MERX- EOI Master Planning Services for Downtown Campus Development.

I heard the recent news about the culinary school and residences in the union bank building after they recieved a $2M donation. http://www.rrc.mb.ca/index.php?pid=2...d=3588&rid=389
but not aware of anything else.

I have also noticed considerable increase in the number of people in this area since they built the downtown campus albeit mostly during daytime , but having people actually reside there would really improve this area even more.

It would only make sense to bring most of its campus to the exchange aside from the trades.

On a sad note many moons ago the U of M had some or most of its program by broadway if I am not mistaken with history. Its a real shame they bolted to Fort Gary. Just imagine how much more denser and more life there would be downtown.

Well, let's be realistic here.

Winnipeg has three large post secondary school; pretty good for a city of it's size. One of them has always has it's enter system present downtown; the U of W. Now another one (RRC) is planning to expand downtown. This is excellent news.

Two out of three large post secondary presences downtown is a huge factor to consider; how many other Canadian cities have this going for them?

So if the U of M is not located downtown, to me, it's not that big of a deal. This University belongs where it is. It's filling it's niche. Two other post secondary institutions are filling the gaps downtown.

Let's just be thankful for this, shall we?
