New EPC Committee (well it's mostly the same people).

Jeff Browaty (North Kildonan): Finance and Economic development
Janice Lukes (Waverley West): Public Works and will serve as Deputy Mayor
Brian Mayes (St. Vital): Water, Waste and Environment
John Orlikow (River Heights-Fort Garry): Community Services
Sherri Rollins (Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry): Property and Development

Markus Chambers (St. Nobert-Seine River): Police Board and Acting Deputy Mayor but not on EPC

Jeff Browaty, Finance. Noted financial expert asshole J Bro.
Janice Lukes, Public Works. Oh ffs. Was she in that role before? I honestly paid no attention cause I just couldn't.

I seriously dislike the last election. No change.

Chambers has done a horrible job already on Police Board. Needs to be less of a WPS apologist and more of a leader. The board's job is to keep leadership accountable...not go to council on their behalf to beg for their budget overruns and increases to be covered.

Lukes is imo an improvement over Allard even though one could say Allard is more progressive simply because she gets shit done and might be able to deal with the nuisance that is the current iteration of public works.

Also, when it comes to active transportation Waverley West has by far the most infrastructure, so with the additional funding pledged by Gillingham we should see some considerable improvement for cycling lanes in the city.

If anyone on this forum works for or has contact with our new Mayor, they may want to advise him to unfollow @conservmillen (Allie Beth Stuckey) on Twitter. In light of the US midterms, a friend sent me a few crazy right wing culture war tweets from her. Only person I follow who follows her… our new mayor -_-

there's a difference b/w "following" someone and "liking" their posts. I follow certain wingnuts just so i know NOT what to do, lol

I get that, but you’re not the mayor. I expect him to follow prominent Canadian conservatives, but not some GOP woman with 388K followers who says:

https://twitter.com/conservmillen/st...Qxlo9Velm2ojqA

It doesn’t really matter, but still, doesn’t leave a great taste in my mouth.

Don’t be obtuse, I never said she couldn’t have an opinion. I put it in the chat because I’m somewhat surprised that he publicly follows her.

You clearly have a problem with what she says and that a local politician followers her. Why, what exactly bothers you about it?

Most likely the fact that see appears to be an American right-wing extremist, implying we don't need any of that rubbish influence in our country. Personally, I would also include left-wing extremists as well. Bottom line, we should not subject our local, provincial and national political systems to American political influence.

rhythms with smishsmortion... Also the whole "culture warriors" nonsense that we need no part of north of the border.

I will agree that it is somewhat troubling (but ultimately not surprising) that our new mayor would follow someone like this.

I clicked on the twitter feed in question and scanned what that person said... most of what she tweets would have been considered perfectly normal, mainstream views 25 years ago (even if she puts them in an aggressively belligerent "screw you" kind of way that is now common in American political discourse). But I suppose that the window of "acceptable views" has shifted such many of these are now considered off-limits by current Canadian standards.

Personally, it doesn't bother me if Gillingham follows her. I'd be more concerned if he started playing the part of "culture warrior".
