There are too many space needle type things so hopefully it doesn't end up being like that, I didn't even know San Antonio had one until visiting a few years ago.

Something unique like perhaps a highrise shaped like a Phoenix?

I feel like this gets rehashed ever year or so. I offered the suggestion of an observation tower like this if it looked like a phoenix rising and lit up with red lights at night that rose from the bottom to the top:

Heck...not even the ground. It's pointing at half the roof of Phase 1

I sure hope they relocate it to be able to see actual construction!

That's better. I would like to see a dual view similar to PalmTower, but I'll take it. Glad to see this moving even if it is just another stump.

seems like a rough spot to put a crane if you ever want to get it back when you're done with it.

Probably going in the elevator shaft. This is where Stewart's tower crane was located when Stewart was built.

This is a professional contractor who specializes in high rise construction, I'm going to guess it's exactly the right spot for a crane.

Can we get the latest rendering and the construction cam link on the first post for this one like Central Station? That's already been a big help for that project. Thanks

That's just the rat/waste slab that is poured to level the area and provide a base for them to build the rebar cage for the crane base, but those 4 caissons are both columns foundations and supporting the crane pad. They are getting closer to being ready for a crane, probably only a couple of weeks before that is poured.

Location is just splitting columns and will just leave a gap in the garage levels. The tower is not located in that area, it's open amenity deck, so they can build the tower and patch the garage floors once the crane comes down. PalmTower has a similar cut out in it's garage floors too for the crane that will need to be patched, but the tower itself steps back so both only affect the garage levels.

Drove by today and they are completely removing all that nice garage screening that was fronting the Van Buren side. That screening was there for all of what...7 months or so? Just seems like a lack of foresight from the developers since they knew the 2nd phase was going to be going up this summer.

Nothing's ever a given in real estate, and had they not covered the garage they'd have a gaping mess at the front door giving it zero curb appeal.

The stuff is just not that expensive anyways and it looks like most of it can simply be reused.

Unfortunately, no reusing it. They were cutting it up pretty good to get it removed when I saw it earlier today.
