Knowing how this process has gone, it'll take some dozen review boards, committees, a couple court cases, the mayor, and His Holiness's blessing 6 months to approve.

Welp...

Can't say I'm surprised. The real-estate market's showing signs of slowing down, and they probably recognized the sunken cost fallacy by marching forward. This suffered the same fate as One-Ten Westminster back just before the 2008 collapse.

That's too bad.

I'd be surprised if Providence sees another 300'+ proposal in my lifetime. Such a loser mentality to throw up every roadblock and ultimately chase away the city's biggest potential investor in decades. This thread has been around for over 6 years! Nobody else is going to take a chance on Providence with anything above the bare minimum, ie cheap 5-over-1's and short labs. Architecturally at least, it's all going to be mediocrity from here on out.

The City officials let small-minded people (the minority) influence everything. Its insane. Such a shame.

Agreed.

The fact Fane didn't give up after just a year or two was surprising as it is.

The biggest hope we'd have of a major skyscraper is in that useless crater where OneTen was supposed to go. It'd still be a long shot and you'd need to find a developer willing to take it on, but there'd likely be less opposition to it.

But given we're in economically uncertain times right now, there's little chance much is going to happen even for lowrises for the next several years.
