Had the chance to take a couple of photos from the office today.

Side Profile

Oak Park's skyline in the distance.

Bonus shot with 110 N Wacker barely peeking out on the left.

Hoping 167 N Green and the hotel proposal for 810 W Lake will fill in some of that empty space between the Wolf Point towers and River Point (444 W Lake).

My girlfriend's mom visited last weekend and commented how "tall" WPE was. Clearly, it's not THAT tall, but perhaps there's a little bit of an illusion with it being right next to the relatively short Merch Mart?

Anyone else notice this?

Is the indented dark glass band 2/3 the way up the tower a special floor? Like a pool or something? It doesn't look mechanical

Absolutely. It's all about context. One Museum Park looks enormous when you're next to it (smaller now that NEMA is next door), but put it in the Loop and it would disappear. WPE (and later WPS) are going to absolutely jut skyward more than most buildings because of their comparatively shorter surroundings.

^^ Of course. It looks Yuuge from any direction, which gives me great hope for the appearance of Salesforce Tower, which will also appear to be a monster, relatively speaking.

Based on the shape of this monster, I can't see how Vista had more issues with wind than this beast. Tall, wide, flat and thin. It may as well be a giant sail.

Also the plot it's on, with the building seemingly rising straight out of the river helps it look taller.

Wolf Point East is officially Topped Off!

Wolf Point East Ground Breaking Ceremony June 18, 2018

Construction on Wolf Point East tower reaches final 679-foot height
https://chicago.curbed.com/2019/8/30...h-rise-top-off

We're officially topped off! Many forms and side platforms are on the ground ready to be broken down and shipped out. I'll upload images later as I took hundreds from a kayak last weekend and have some sorting to do. But I uploaded a video of the ground-breaking ceremony last year to commemorate the topping off.

Cheers - WPWatcher

Since WPE is topped out, will they start prepping the WPS site for breaking ground soon?
