Thumbs up Your city's foodie destinations

Maybe it's because I haven't ate lunch yet, but what are some of the best places to grab a bite in your city. Pictures are encouraged!

Manny's is located in the Grant Park neighborhood of Atlanta. It's a dive bar with a good beer and cocktail selection that also serves up delicious food late at night, especially their burgers.

Images courtesy of Yelp

The Grant Park area is one of the few somewhat walkable neighborhoods in Atlanta, with lots of other food and drink destinations nearby.

Well, I've been eating quite often lately at a place called Brenda's Meat and 3 on Divisadero St in San Francisco. It's basically Cajun/Creole

Fried Chicken with collards, dirty rice, pepper jelly and mac/cheese

Shrimp and Grits

Gumbo

Beignets

I don’t think “foodie destinations” means someone’s personal favorite restaurant.

Borough Market and environs are one for London. It’s the city’s oldest food market, though not quite as famous as some like the Boqueria in Barcelona or Les Halles in Paris. In addition to the vendors there are a lot of food stalls and restaurants that cluster around it given it does attract foodies.

Otherwise the biggest concentrations of restaurants are in Soho (west) and Shoreditch (east). Soho is adjacent to Chinatown and kind of the same market. There are popular food markets in Clerkenwell (Exmouth Market), Hackney (Broadway Market), Brixton, etc.

Perhaps, but it's always interesting to see a local's perspective on what's good to ear rather than what the masses or magazines think.

Everyone and their brother considers themselves a "foodie" (a term I can't stand lol) these days, so I think this thread will just wind up being a list of people's personal favorite restaurants, since it's not like there is really a "foodie" consensus on the matter. However, I'm definitely not opposed to a thread showcasing a bunch of enticing food photos!

So with that being said, I guess for me something that I would consider a foodie destination would be a hidden gem, or a type of cuisine one might not immediately associate with that place.

So for Nashville, the first place that really fits the bill to me would be one of the many Eastern Turkish/Kurdish restaurants in the city, which is a bit of a hotbed for that kind of cuisine.

My personal favorite is probably Edessa... here is their menu:

https://www.edessarestauranttn.net/menu-1

Another excellent hidden global gem is La Cucharita, which is an incredibly authentic Colombian restaurant tucked away in a strip mall:

https://www.lacucharitanashville.com/

One more I want to bring attention to is a phenomenal Ethiopian place called Gojo Cafe:

São Paulo lacks of a typical cuisine as it happens to cities that are overwhelmed by immigrants. And precisely because of that, is widely regarded as a food mecca.

As apparently there's no consensus about what the thread require, I guess it's ok to talk about good/original restaurants we like. And as the city is too big, I'll focus on things near me:

Bia Hoi, a Vietnamese bar with some fusion food (French, Creole):

Ive seen a couple of pictures of street churrasquerias in SP, looks way cooler than the "traditional" ones in the south region of Brasil.

Oh goodie! Let's sidetrack the thread by arguing about what's a "foodie destination". 10023 loves to do that sort of thing. Make it about what HE wants.

As for me, my favorite restaurants are or should be foodie destinations which is why they are my favorites. If I didn't think they were worthy of foodies, I wouldn't eat there.

They're not as popular as in the 2000's, but they're usually expensive places.

Here a list from Trip Advisor of the best churrascarias in São Paulo: https://www.tripadvisor.com.br/Resta...Sao_Paulo.html

The top 15 (Varanda, Rubaiyat, Barbacoa, Fuego Celeste, Pobre Juan, Fogo de Chão) are all very expensive places, the former 3, Michelin. None follow the South traditional. As São Paulo has nothing typical, they don't have any regional flavour or are Argentinian restaurants.

Casa do Porco (Pig's House). This one is three blocks away from home, 2nd year featuring The Worlds 50 Best Restaurants (https://www.instagram.com/theworlds50best/?hl=pt-br) and pointed as the best one in South America.

Creative food focused on pork. Never been there because lines are massive and it's full of posers from upmarket neighbourhoods trying to be cool eating Downtown. Their food is great though.

Salt Lake City has a new fast-casual chicken sandwich place downtown called Pretty Bird that's worth checking out. It's the brainchild of famous chef and SLC resident Viet Pham and the flavor is definitely distinct from "Nashville" hot chicken.

And if you a Washington elite: The Inn at Little Washington in Virginia (a 3-star Michelin, one of only two in the US outside of California/New York)

It has its own PBS documentary:

I'm a big fan of Chef Donald Link

https://smile.amazon.com/Real-Cajun-...2260786&sr=8-1

so when in New Orleans I usually head for one of his restaurants. This is the more casual of them, Cochon:

Wood-fired shrimp

Wood-fired oysters

Fried alligator

Braised short-rib with rice pilaf and mushroom gravy

Thanks that list has a lot of great pics of food but cant seem to navigate trying to find the best 50 in the world.

Is there a direct link to that?

Edit I read your post more and it can be found here but no list just pics of 50 places with no names on them to try to figure out what they are, click bait.

Daniel, Per Se, Le Bernadin, Dhamaka...NYC has no shortage of glossy "foodie" destinations. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CSuC065l0yi/

This is from Le Pavillon in One Vanderbilt. Daniel Boulud's new restaurant that has been the hit of the usually sleepy summer season. When I think "foodie" I think Michelin stars or a destination like Arthur Avenue in the BX or Flushing in Queens.
