This makes me want to visit Butte, but alas, looks like no direct flights form Chicago. Bozeman on the other hand seems to have an impressive assortment of direct flights for a small town:

That's because it is the closest city to:

-Yellowstone NP
-Big Sky, one of the world's upper-tier ski resorts
-Bridger Bowl, a less famous but also good mountain, with famous training facilities used by pro athletes and occasionally olypians
-the Madison and Gallatin rivers, which attract fly-fishing tourism from all over the world

The town itself is far less of a destination than its surroundings, at least for now

Yeah, and Montana State University, which must stimulate some traffic. But obviously this makes Bozeman a much more attractive relocation destination.

^ I'm legit surprised that cook and lake counties in Chicagoland meet the $1,500 threshold, but dupage county doesn't.

I always think of dupage as a bastion of the upper middle class.

DuPage, IL has an average weekly wage of $1,414 and a growth rate of 3.7%

This data is for the jobs in the county, not the residents---so many of the higher income households in DuPage most likely earn their paychecks in Cook county or Lake county.

^ thanks for the clarification .

Still though, that result is legitimately surprising to me as there are very significant clusters of white collar jobs in dupage county spread among the myriad office parks of Oak Brook, Naperville, Downers Grove, etc.

Maybe it's because average is being used instead of median. Cook and Lake counties probably have more uber-wealthy dragging their averages up moreso than dupage.

Yeah, I had to look this up a long time ago because people were wondering why Alameda is higher than Marin----same concept, more higher paying jobs in Alameda, but it looks like Marin is catching up now.

It's just Fremont. We can't afford the extra E, what with rents being so high.

Speaking of Fremont, I've been driving from Oakland to Mountain View and back three times in the past week and traffic has really gotten bad again, I almost want to say worse than before the pandemic-like 880 from Oakland airport all the way to the Tesla factory has intermittent slow downs for that entire 20ish-mile stretch at all hours of the day, and it annoys the hell out of me.

That... is a hellish commute. And you're up in the Piedmont hills too so getting down to 880 takes forever. We really need BART to swoop over (or under) the Dumbarton strait and hook up with the mid Peninsula cities.
