I also feel like a new office tower may need to be proposed soon? Particularly if, as Crain's is speculating, ConAgra decides to move their Global HQ to Chicago (and not just the regional, as previously announced).

The South Loop Saga continues...

Crain's is reporting that the Essex Tower is being designed by Hartshorne Plunkard, submitted to the city yesterday.

Interesting. They've done a lot of work lately, but nothing as visible as a parkfront building would be. I hope they don't play it safe and do flat blue glass, but I think the only thing you can really do wrong is break up the streetwall. Spertus shows you can use that location to be adventurous, you just gotta hold the line when you do it.

You need to make sure to credit where you are pulling images from.

But wait, there's more! Another tower for South Michigan Avenue

The owner of the Essex Inn has jumped into the South Michigan Avenue development fray, revealing plans for a 48-story apartment tower next to the hotel.

A venture led by Oxford Capital Group, a Chicago-based hotel developer that bought the Essex last year, submitted plans with the city yesterday for a high-rise with 388 units just south of the hotel at 800 S. Michigan Ave.

Now we're only missing BJB's plans for the corner of Michigan and Randolph. I hope whatever they are cooking up for that site is as fantastic or even better than what we've seen so far this week.

Shut up! Another stunning tower for Michigan Ave. Maybe the best one yet.

Does anybody else remember five years ago when you only had to check this site once a month to keep track of everything that was going on? Now I have to check twice a day or risk missing something.

Somebody out there who hasnt been here in a week is gonna sign in and just drop to the ground.

HPA. Makes it easier to distinguish from PH.

I was hoping it would have a surface similar to their Ed Debevics tower, glad it's so bold. The angular support struts are pretty wild. It makes it look like the villas they build on narrow stilts above the water in the tropics.

360 N Annex turned out great. Definite upgrade from parking lot. Really smart to fan out the windows like that to maximize views down the river.

Yes I did, yes they do. I meant H+P, just got my letters backwards due to all the excitement. Maybe I'm drawing a blank but I don't even know who P/H, lol. Anybody?
