Love that middle shot. Makes me imagine relocating this skyline to Atlanta; city in the forest concept.

3rd shot is the definition of the Big Apple. When you flip to the dictionary, under the words "holy shit", you see an illustration that shows that aerial.

There's a model here, on the other side of CPT that makes me think something tall was (or is) in the works...looks taller than Steinway.

The New York City model is under the request of SOM and the model is going to be used for research purposes.

Looks like a development site on 7th Ave. There are a couple of potential underbuilt sites on 7th just south of 57th.

I really hope the spire comes back. There needs to be some sort of crown. After 432 Park it would suck to have another flat roof at that height.

Yup, that's one of the sites. Park Central is owned by a major developer.

And Extell has a blockfront assemblage just to the south.

That's a nice village back in 2007. It has grown so much.

Its interesting because if you look at shots of the city, lets say 1940 or 1950, it looked a little provincial compared to now, yet even 1940's NYC was leagues further than some places in the U.S. today that have undergone booms.

If they are planning a supertall on the site of Park Central, they'd have to buy a lot of air rights as there is none.
However, the block south of already has more air rights but is divided between more owners.

That's what they all do. But there are other, although more dangerous ways, such as zoning changes. That didn't work out so well for 53w53.

I still think it's a shame that 53w53 original height was reduced; Such a beautiful building should dominate the skyline even more.
I really hope they build more supertalls in midtown between 56th and 43rd to balance out all the new ones on 57th.

What if... the spire we see on that model is not the previously proposed spire of CPT, but the spire of whatever they have up their sleeve for the "Park Central" building! Looks like it could be an optical illusion.
