^ Shots like that just blow me away because I was last in NY in 2015 for BookCon at the Javitz Center and the area looks nothing like it did back then!

Yah I was last in NYC in April of 2015, and since then, 39 buildings taller than 600 feet have risen. Just mind boggling.

It's looking like we aren't on track for another 39 to rise in the next 5-6 years, but goodness gracious the past 6 were wild.

And this angle seems to show a photo finish in the race to the top...

yeah it always perplexed me why that area was so quiet and underutilized. not even fast food and trinket shops in front of the javits. its a whole new neighborhood now with much more to come. we were just sitting outside in front of artichoke pizza this gray wintery afternoon on 10av/w17st looking at the lit up hudson yards towers up the road and talking about this and all the development along the highline right in front of us.

It must be absolutely mind-blowing living in those buildings in the first few pics NYguy posted and seeing a row of buildings 900ft+ tall emerge seemingly out of nowhere! Seems like yesterday when a McDonalds was here watching Hudson Yards begin its rise!

I think we have become desensitized to seeing these towers go up in New York, but anywhere else in the country, it would be a really big deal watching these massive towers shoot up together.

The final beam of New York City’s fourth largest office tower, and the neighborhood’s largest commercial office building by square footage, was hoisted into place today.

Designed by Foster & Partners, the building is expected to open on schedule in 2022.

Foster + Partners’ 1,011-Foot-Tall 50 Hudson Yards Officially Tops Out In Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Quote:
Last Friday the final steel beam of Foster + Partners‘ 50 Hudson Yards was lifted into place, marking the topping out of the 1,011-foot supertall skyscraper. The dedication ceremony took place in the large public plaza with attendees including Related Companies‘ chairman and founder Stephen Ross, CEO Jeff Blau, and president Bruce Beal, Jr. The 58-story commercial building, which is also being developed by Oxford Properties, is the final structure in the first phase of Hudson Yards and the largest by volume, yielding 2.9 million square feet.

Photographs seen on Hudson Yards’ Instagram show the signing of the steel beam, along with an attached American flag and an evergreen tree placed atop.

50 Hudson Yards has signed on major tenants including BlackRock and Facebook, whose 1.2-million-square-foot office will be the company’s largest outside of its Menlo Park, California headquarters. Facebook will also occupy an additional 300,000 square feet divided across Kohn Pedersen Fox‘s 30 and 55 Hudson Yards.

50 Hudson Yards is aiming for LEED certification and is expected to finish and open sometime next year.
