One Chicago Tower Crane from Lake Michigan

The taller tower jib crane for One Chicago becomes clearly visible, being nicely backlit, from Lake Michigan this morning.

Low level clouds over the lake, during the past several days, preventing such scene.

Everything needs to be in BitCoin for it to proceed.

I'm wondering how true the 'waviness' of glass really represents it's quality or if that's just a myth/simplification. I've gone back and looked at photos of other buildings - can't find any that have perfect mirror reflections with 90 degree angles. Can anyone cite an example of a project with 'top notch' glass?

I also think that photos that are zoomed probably amplify the distortions vs a farther away more macro shot. Wouldn't a perfect mirror finish be bad for bird strikes?

This is the exact same glass as 1326 S Michigan. Any imperfections look magnified due to the high reflectivity. The way to fix it is to increase the thickness of the outboard lite or use a smaller width (both of which add cost).

On the tall tower, concrete is now on a 3-day cycle... That is as fast as it gets in Chicago. They can get it down to a 2-day cycle in NYC but the quality is poor and requires a topping slab for the poor finish.

^It means an additional floor slab is cast every 3 days. So a slab was cast on Friday, another will be cast on Wednesday, then the following Mon, Thurs, and so on.

Yeah, I too am waiting to see an example of this perfect glass people are speaking of that has un warped reflections. Renderings don't count. Anyways my point is does it really matter?

^IMHO 56 Leonard is the nicest glass job I’ve noticed. I don’t like the framing of the operable vents, but the glass quality is top notch. And the design is pretty cool as well.

My, my, thankfully the glass is appealing at 56 Leonard, otherwise that building looks like one un-attractive mess to me. Give me One Chicago glass warts and all. Also One Chicago will dramatically impact the cities skyline at the location where it is being built, and hopefully spur more developments of its magnitude in that area.
