If you climb inside the spire at the top of Liberty One; it is a very weird feeling; its like a tunnel reaching upward; it never seem to end; it feels that way but when you get to the top there is a latch and you can walk around the top of the spire; it almost feels like the cupola in City Hall at the base of the William Penn Statue; its a small walkway but your below the huge red aircraft warning light. There area at the top of the aircraft warning light is about the size of.... well if you put 4 office cubicals together it feels like that but of course from nearly 950' below it looks a good deal smaller; if any of you ever get the chance to go up there you'll what I mean.

Element's official opening is scheduled for next Friday, 5/14/21. Not much info on W, other than the competing law suits. Interesting read on the state of hospitality in the city.

Part of Center City hotel high-rise to open, hoping for a visitor rebound

Quote:
The Element by Westin, which will occupy a section of the new high-rise hotel building on 15th Street near City Hall, is scheduled to open next week as Philadelphia’s hospitality businesses wager that easing pandemic restrictions may fuel a summer tourism rebound.

The 460-room Element hotel, a mid-market brand, is to open May 14, nearly six years after crews began construction of the 51-story hotel building that will also accommodate a higher-end W Hotel, the Marriott International subsidiary said in a release this week.

Looks like we are on the 6th shot of this year for pushed back opening dates.

At least the Element is finally opening.

Dolce right? I've been to the one in Miami. A solid high-end addition to Chestnut Street.

LDV Hospitality operates other restaurants in Philadelphia, notably Scarpetta.

So the Element entrance is open, including access to the elevators. I tried sneaking up to the 31st floor, but I got caught

Probably not until it is open for business.

Isn't the "W" supposed to light up? Here's a moot point, the Ritz Carlton Condo building is so lined up with the W, that you can hardly see it. It's like the W and the Ritz Carlton is one building. Can't really see the Ritz on the skyline.

Also, the W would have been better in the Ritz Carlton's position being that it's the taller more prominent building with it's light show at night. Imagine the view coming around City Hall. It also would have been better for loading and unloading patrons of hotel guest on a wider street. The Ritz would have been better in W's spot being that it's on the narrower street of Chestnut being that it's a residential building offering a little more privacy. Also, why for such a large double hotel building didn't they design a drive thru carport under or in the W? They now have to load and unload hotel guest on the narrow street of Chestnut. All moot points but food for thought!

You can see the W's on both sides of the building.

Also they have enough space between 15th & Chestnut to do what they have to do

It would have probably been worse on the Square/Circle due to the turning traffic onto broad st.

We will see how it looks once its fully ramped up thought and then we will know how it flows.

Nearly all of the light strips are lit, and both of the W logos are lit up
