I would expect, at minimum, there are still building maintenance people who monitor the site during this bankruptcy period. So it could just be them draining out the basement from all the rain.

Hoping the GST freeze on new apartment builds will strongly motivate a buyer to build it as envisioned

Didn't the NDP announce they would also freeze the PST on housing starts? That would really help offset the increase in interest rates.

No PST on rental starts. So yes, there would be no GST or PST. I'm not sure how or if that would apply to this project since it's already 1/3 complete.

But overall I would say that's a huge incentive.

Supposedly, it was bought, so we will see what happens.

That would be huge news indeed.

I looked into this more from my source. Supposedly, from what I was told, offers came in, and they are not accepting any more offers and are reviewing them. So it's not officially "sold," but they will accept one of these offers.

Exciting to hear ‘offers’ in plural. Hopefully the new buyer won’t have to deviate too far from the original design to make the project work.

Great to hear! I wonder if the measure to waive GST is playing a role in the interest.

Very interesting, as others have said, hopefully they do not deviate too much from the old design. Watching with interest.

We're going to end up with a dull grey box.

I assume the precast is sitting in a storage yard somewhere and will be used for the project. As that would seemingly be the cheapest/easiest way forward to getting the building up.

Mid-Century Modern revival? Is that a thing yet?

Didn't take long to go from "great news" to 'this'll be a disaster"...
