I guess the color is quite a bit different. Mostly grey with a touch of color.

I gotta say... I really dislike that type of panelling and bright mullions. I'm horrified that it will be running up the entire side of the building. I wish it was more like the podium section where it's just a bead of black urethane caulking. (which by the way is horribly done with blobs of crud everywhere and smeared all over the glass).

A deeper blue like St. George or CP 3/4 might have been better but I suppose that's just my personal taste. The bright mullion is super busy as well.

I feel like it looks just as lousy as Andaz.

Really does look like the Andaz, but with glass instead of metal paneling. And it looks like they are trying to make an overused bar code design with the spandrels to boot.

From Rob on Rail Fans Canada Discord.

The checkered pattern of greyish-teal is... interesting. Looks better than I was imagining, I guess. Certainly won't be the worse tower on Rideau.

Do they paint the pre-cast concrete panels as well or is that the finished look?

I don't think it will be painted, but I hope that the discolouration can be cleaned-off once the tower is complete.

Interesting that this thing is around the height of CP 1/2 (25 floors each) at only 22 floors with two more to go.

Went up so fast compared to Royale.

Is that insulation in brown on the outside of the concrete?

Surprising but Claridge Royale is turning our better than expected while this one is looking much worst IMO.

Yes, just like the insulation Ottawa taxpayers bought for the new Porsche dealership here:

I thought part of the deal with the taxbreak was the city was now able to extend the bike lane all the way to St. Laurent with by pushing the dealership back from the curb and away from the corner?

If you think about it, 3.7 or 2.7 or whatever it was sounds like a bargain compared to what it would have cost to reconfigure the street if the city was flying solo?

Just sayin. Unless I'm wrong. Which is a possibility.

I don't know anything about that, but it sure sounds like a bribe to me.

I think that was a very small part of the mix. It was a tax break for business to locate where no business wants to locate. Of course car dealerships are fine to build their suburban dream on a desolate stretch and do nothing to add, probably hurt, the commercial fabric of a street so should have been excluded. Home Depot/Rona, Gas Stations and the like also should be excluded.

Poor uOttawa students will grow to hate city living after a couple of years here and move into suburbs the minute they get their diploma.

Is that a joke because I really don't see that happening? People want to live there because it is near the market and campus. If someone has the money to live in one of the Claridge buildings as an undergrad they are probably doing alright in life I wouldn't worry about them too much

Yeah, as a 20-something living in Toronto in a spot with even less breathing room than that, I can’t say architecture or varied building heights were high on my list of priorities. Location near work and amenities, and the details of the actual condo were far more important.

I have no doubt the towers will be filled with residents, students and tourists in no time, but this is still a crappy way of building a city. Wall to wall 300 foot towers. No sunlight. But hey respecting the height restrictions!*

*yes, bad urban planning by the City v. NCC height restrictions. Can't do much about the latter, but why does the City not have setback restrictions between towers?

All these cheap ass buildings will probably be demolished in 30-40 years and hopefully the next generation will get it right.

Demolishing condo buildings can't be easy, with hundreds of owners.
