Scottsdale Doesn't want height and to be honest I don't blame them.

The height being built up in Kierland is actually in Phoenix. Scottsdale has a very specific type of way they want things to be and it works just fine for them.

I have no problem with it, I dont want height spread all over the metro I want it downtown and in Tempe.

Scottsdale has a very specific way they do things, and then they complain about traffic, parking and keep doing the same things over and over again expecting different results. All while they blame all the skyscrapers in old town for their problems.

They would oppose the same residential buildings that make Scottsdale so attractive in the first place if the exact same ideas were proposed today.

Respectfully disagree.

The person that wants to live in a mid-rise Scottsdale building isn't the same person that wants to live in Downtown PHX/Tempe.

Until Scottsdale changes their tune, they'll continue to lost developments to Kierland. What's happening in Kierland is cool, but there's no convincing me that those projects belong in North PHX instead of Old Town.

The Waterfront condo's sell for $700+ per ft and they're 15 years old now. The demand is there - Scottsdale is simply blowing it.

I want Scottsdale to blow it. so much wealth was drawn away form downtown to Scottsdale for decades. Outside of the Biltmore all of the high end financial offices that would normally drive office demand downtown is in Scottsdale.

I think your distaste would be better directed at The Biltmore instead of Old Town Scottsdale.

My point is that the tall projects happening in Kierland should be happening in Downtown Scottsdale - or at least both.

Weren't there like a range of 12 story towers proposed there? Across from the mall?
I think the lot Obadno is referring to the East side of the canal adjacent to 73rd St: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.5039602,-111.921927,18z

I believe the lot you are referring to that once had the BlueSky proposal is between Scottsdale Rd and East Fashion Square.

No I was talking about that long lot. I seem to recall towers were proposed there but I could be mistaken. Been what, 14 years now?

This project. Luxury hotel and condos. Six stories was proposed there in 2007 so five isn't that far off.

It is definitely the skinny lot next to the canal. Found the project on McShane’s site. Map is there when you scroll down.

Great looking project and height at Scottsdale/Bell rd. Seems like they garnered most of the approval in the area and should sail through planning commission and city council.

New Oldtown Mid Rise & High Rise

Did some digging on the planning and development website and found this video for ZOM living project across from Fashion square. Looks amazing.

14 Story @ Bell & Scottsdale

The 14 story mixed use build proposed for the SW corner of Bell and Scottsdale Rd has gotten its first approval. Sounds like they did a ton of outreach to the community to make sure the development and its plans were addressed. And they didn't have to compromise in terms of height of the project.

https://azbex.com/outreach-earn-n-ph...ecommendation/

Will be exciting to see this go up. Hopefully opens up taller development along this corridor over the next few years.

Respectfully disagree.

All that's happening here is the City of Scottsdale doesn't want what you think they would want. The city was built on low-density. The Waterfront condos are already more than they want.
