Different modes of transit per city

Inspired by the transit map thread, how many modes of public transit are available in each city/region? Modes include: traditional bus, rapid bus, commuter coach, streetcar, subway/elevated, commuter rail, ferry, and aerial tram, inter-city bus, inter-city standard rail, inter-city high-speed rail, air travel. Every city should at least have a traditional bus system and an airport, but most of the rest will probably vary widely. Also, feel free to add any legitimate modes of public transportation that I overlooked.

NYC
  • traditional bus √
  • rapid bus √
  • commuter coach √
  • streetcar X
  • subway/elevated √
  • commuter rail √
  • ferry √
  • aerial tram √
  • inter-city bus √
  • inter-city standard rail √
  • inter-city high-speed rail √ (ok, maybe?)
  • inter-city/international air travel √

NYC has one of the most diverse sets of transit options in the world, but there is a conspicuous absence of a streetcar in the city.

São Paulo

- traditional bus √
- rapid bus √
- commuter coach √
- streetcar X
- subway/elevated √
- commuter rail √
- ferry √ (I didn't know, but apparently there is on the reservoirs on the far south and it's quite busy)
- aerial tram √
- inter-city bus √
- inter-city standard rail √
- inter-city high-speed rail X
- inter-city/international air travel √

It's missing HSR and Streetcar. As Rio de Janeiro opened their system in 2016 and Santos (the big port on São Paulo coast) also opened theirs around the same time, I guess São Paulo will soon have it. Downtown São Paulo has some buses connected with electric cables above though.

Functionally, those all operate as either buses or streetcars, so I don't think they need their own designation.

While not their primary purpose, I guess you can use a cruise ship to transit. NYC would also have this as a transit mode in that case.

Biggest black eye for Phoenix for me is the loss of any inter-city rail. The proposal is to reconnect us with the latest infrastructure bill. We'll see. Curse you saboteurs! Still a $300k reward available for someone that can solve the 25-year-old case of the 1990s Phoenix derailment.

To clarify, that's not what I mean by aerial tram. An aerial tram is suspended in the air using cable wires. The Atlanta airport shuttle is an elevated train.

This is New York's tramway: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roosevelt_Island_Tramway

METRO runs traditional bus, rapid bus, and light rail. The Brazos Transit district runs commuter bus, the Bush Intercontinental airport has aerial tram and there are several ferries, including one in Galveston and one across the Houston ship channel connecting to the San Jacinto monument.

Does light rail count as streetcar? Because we have light rail.

Not to nitpick, but why did you have a separate category for Rapid Buses, if you consider light rail to be functionally the same as a streetcar?

Trolleybuses (only 5 systems in use in the US and 1 in Canada) and cable cars are also pretty unique.

I didn't understand the ferry comment because I put an X next to it. Acknowledged on the other post about aerial tram.
