Construction contract for UCSF's Precision Cancer Medicine Building has been awarded...this is the building at the north end of the hospital site (southwest corner of 16th and 3rd) that will complete phase one of the hospital complex. Construction starts next spring and building opens spring 2019.

nice to know this is on track; will be good to have another little blank filled in.

IF the Warriors can get the arena going when they hope, there's gonna be quite the storm of construction activity around that stretch of Third next year, with Uber and possibly that other UCSF building across Third from this one.

sidewalk being formed on the north side of Channel, to go along with what I assume is the parking area on that side. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I bet the park greenery element of this parcel will not go in, but sure would be nice if I am wrong.

not too much difference since the last time we checked in on the Commons' west end

but fairly soon people will be able to walk (and drive) east-west directly from the northern MB access from Seventh St into the heart of MB, and through to Third St. will shorten a number of trips and should encourage circulation

sidewalk going in on southern side of the westernmost MB Blvd block, along the future Commons. looking west

and looking back east from the roundabout

the work on the northern side of Channel. what looks to be the parking area seems much larger than I had thought, which would be disappointing since it means less extensive greenspace.

pile-driving has begun in earnest on block 6E

more scaffolding is down on block 7W, revealing the Commons-side rusted metal feature

I'm liking block 7W

Rutter views. looks like UCSF has done some grading and marking of future roadway alignments in the foreground since last week - I'm guessing for below-ground infrastructure placement?

the group doing the work on parcels P23 and P24 is going very slowly. this is P24, which doesn't seem to have changed much in a month or two

Isn't this a landfill area of San Francisco?

All in all, the whole area doesn't have much appeal to me, like I'd want to wander around that area on a future tip of there. And why would I want to spend time wandering around that area? Would I be missing something?

It is called Mission Bay because it used to be an inlet of the Bay, yes.

It is not being designed as a tourist destination, no. It is residential, a university campus, and originally conceived of as biotech hub. The future arena and Mission Rock complex next to the ballpark would be reasons for those not living in the area to come.

looking back the other way from the other end near the roundabout

and the parking area also on the north side of Channel

still pretty chaotic-looking around the western end of the Commons, tho sidewalk forming there too

Uber site

something's moving at parcel P23, with trees waiting to be installed across from the hurdle-clearing future Chase Center

not quite MB, but here is 2051 Third St showing its full bulk:

the Muni turnaround loop is underway after being fought unsuccessfully by local residents who think it should have been relocated further south so that Dogpatch would be included in the northern segment:

the Muni electric line support poles waiting

the Exchange's skin

block 7W also getting some of its last surface installed

block 1 as seen looking east down the Creek

Rutter views (the middle one is a little off-target; not sure what happened there)
