Lets take a closer look at this tower of oddities vs recent construction in Chicago & NYC

Wow... Crazy graphic.

Looks just as nuts, if not more as part of that ensemble. Also gives you a better idea of how skinny Bklyn Tower is.

Certainly a strange tower that fits the 'only in New York' phrase.. this obscure tower would be the tallest building in all the European Union when complete but in the Big Apple its just another skyscraper filling a relatively mundane block on Eighth Avenue

That diagram got me confused since it was missing a few towers u/c in Chicago. Here's the full diagram showing 740 Eighth Ave in comparison to towers u/c in NYC (along with a couple that are in site prep or planned but not u/c) and Chicago.

Has anyone heard if the project was cancelled by the developer?

There's nothing on the internet regarding a cancelation and it's currently under construction. I'm sure they're tinkering with the entertainment aspects of this "unique" tower.

It would be totally awesome if they called the hotel "Le Neck"

I hope the developers keep the idea. A hotel geared towards entertainment via drop ride, (3) observation desks, Spa and VIP bar at the top floor sounds like a great concept, it would be a NYC first!

They need to cancel the drop ride as it is too risky, will require frequent maintenance, and may be very costly to insure. One unfortunate accident will result in lawsuits and likely close it, leading to a white elephant and eyesore. I certainly am not imagining such a bad incident but Orlando FL opened the world's tallest drop ride last year and is now dismantling it after the unfortunate accident. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwhv3KseR1o

I don't hate it.

I can only imagine the screams you hear all over Midtown every 5 minutes from the drop ride.
