The Hard Rock line would be better if it was built a littler farther west to capture NW Miami-Dade and Western Broward commuters (who commute in MD in large numbers). It doesn't really make sense to build a transit line specifically to a stadium that gets used a few times a year.

Hard Rock Stadium is basically the catalyst to built the North Extension. It’s not the sole reason why the line is being built. The line is being built to service NW Miami Dade and even Western Broward residents who live nearby as well as service sports fans going to and from Hard Rock for whatever event is held there plus 27th Ave is a perfect corridor for the new line. And once again and after nauseum, the extension was planned as far back as 2010 just look at the links I provided in my prior posts

Can’t they just extend to Broward County north? How about that?? To BCC central campus on Davie Rd extension? Will they ever consider it?

Much like the DC Metro Silver Line built with no express tracks and a terminal, well, not IN the terminal, this half-assed non-heavy rail Miami Beach project will likely go down as another pretty epic blunder for a system with Metro in its name.

The problem with that is that the Metrorail is ran by Miami Dade Transit, not Broward Transit. Metrorail, is subsidized by Miami Dade taxpayers, not Broward taxpayers. It would be a complete fantasy if Metrorail would reach all the way to Ft Lauderdale, but because of politics and territory, Metrorail can only go as far as County Line.

If Broward County is ever going to consider having local mass transit, then it’s going to have to invest in it’s own mass transit system (hopefully heavy rail countywide and maybe light rail within Ft Lauderdale). As far as intercity service goes, there’s always Tri Rail, Amtrak, and Brightline to travel between FL cities.

I believe that the Silver Line project in DC is a very fine project that doesn’t need any express service of it’s kind due to DC’s size. There’s no such thing as express service in DC’s metro since DC is only 62 sq. mi. and the Metro serves DC perfectly the way NYC’s subway serves NYC perfectly, Boston’s T serves that city well, Chicago’s El serves it well, and BART in the Bay Area does a fine job connecting, SF, Oakland, and San Jose. It doesn’t always have to be express to connect between destinations.

^ Washington DC is the Nation's capital. Dulles Int'l is the gateway to legions of domestic and foreign visitors, many visiting for diplomatic reasons. A limited stop or express service between the airport and East Falls Church alongside a regular local Silver Line service would have not only been impressive, but completely warranted.

And back to what I said: that’s the reason why there’s no express service on the METRO!!! There’s also a reason why NYC, Chicago, and even Philadelphia has either express or skip-stop service is because all those cities are over 100 sq. mi. in land area while DC is only about 61 sq. mi.

The planners and designers of the METRO didn’t consider towards building and constructing express service due to DC’s size. Yes, it would’ve been much more impressive if the WMATA provided express service to IAD from DC but when you have to Lincoln Memorial, the White Hose, and the US Capitol at relatively close range from one another, express service isn’t necessary.

Now compare the WTC, Chelsea, 34th St, 42nd St, and 125th St in Manhattan. Look at the Loop and head northward to Wrigley Field all the way to Howard Station in Chicago. And check out why the Broad St Line has express stations. The reason being is, once again, those cities are much bigger in land area as well as population as DC, therefore those cities warrant having express service. DC’s metro is a fine metro, with or without express service, and it’s similar to BART in the Bay Area, another system which doesn’t have express service.
