[QUOTE=djforsberg;9901958]One of the criticisms of socialism, is the suggestion that we want a “planned economy” and that doing so is bad and inefficient. Well, what if I told you that our capitalist, “free market” economy is planned, but not in a way that benefits most of us, our ecosystems, or future generations? For more on this, check out the latest Second Thought video on the topic, which also explains that the answer to a capitalist-planned economy is a democratic economy.
So this guys wants to turn the
entire world into.....
VENEZUELA?!?!?!?
JUST KIDDING!
Interesting video. Some things I didn't know about Wally-World Mart or the gutting of Sears, but the observations on the myths of never-ending economic growth and the presence of actual competition in the market were pretty dead on, IMO.
Of course any managed economy is only going to be as efficient as the people who manage it. Finding enough people who want to put the benefit of the community ahead of themselves can be tough. Lots of human weakness out there to deal with.
