Upon completion, it will be one of the tallest buildings in New York City, at approximately 1,450 feet and 87 stories

http://www.paulhastings.com/news/det...6-ff00008cffc3
The article says "approximately" 1,450 ft which means the author does not know exact height. It can still be 1250 ft or 1550ft. We will have to wait for official Extell statement to find out.

^or maybe 1650'

i hope the official height is at least this not including a "Fab-yu-laas crown daa-ling, don't make me beg, i won't do it you know!" I actually would beg if it meant an extra 100' or so.

If the height were at 1,450 feet, its quite possible that could only be the highest occupied floor. A crown or mechanical floors could easily take it to 1,550 feet. It all depends what the final design ends up like.

It is an optimistic article (compared to the height of 1250 feet). But I'd rather wait for an official confirmation.

hopefully the finished design is awesome and puts the crown at such a height that it makes it the tallest by roof in the western hemisphere.

PS. I wouldn't mind a black or silver tower as we already have enough blue and brown in NYC.

You shouldn't be doing that here, the buildings are in different cities, so whichever ends up taller doesn't really matter. If the Willis Tower were in midtown, and selling condos, I would think that would be an issue.

Would be cool if this building can get over 1,450 and be taller than Willis tower and all other buildings in the Western Hemisphere when it comes to roof height.

As far as I remember it was this guy James that floated that idea. I don't know of any official statement to that effect. Hopefully we get something soon

If we are to believe him, he has said it is under redesign so that date has been pushed back.

NO, I'm not reading to deeply into you comments. I'm trying to keep you on point so I don't have to delete the city vs city war you commentary will likely lead to. This is not about who's taller. If it ends up taller, it just is.

How wide do you think the tower will be?

An sketch rendering of the West Broadway side base of the Nordstrom Tower has surfaced & will be shown at this hearing.

‘Scuse me, while I kill the sky: Extell’s 1,550-foot tower revealed (sorta)

Posted by Michael Gross in GripeBox October 1st, 2013

Quote:
Extell’s latest towering erection on West 57th Street is set to be revealed tonight at a last minute meeting of the Landmarks Committee of Community Board #5 more than fifty blocks away from the neighborhood surrounding the proposed development (which is set to include a branch of the Nordstrom department store in its base and a hotel and condos for the wealthy above). Sketches of that s base, a rendering, and a bird’s eye view of the mammoth building to be cantilevered over the landmark Art Students League, can be seen by clicking through below. Curiously, the gargantuan height of the proposed tower is not shown though you can click each image to see it full-size. Or perhaps, that’s not curious at all. As New York magazine’s architecture critic Justin Davidson wrote recently in a review of another Extell tower, “we bear the aesthetic cost,” of thoughtless, profit driven development. “In theory,” Davidson continued, “developers of these billionaires’ beanstalks pay for their portions of sky and light with architecture worth looking at. In practice, they judge design by their clients’ taste for glitz.” The meeting, at which public comment on the tower is welcome, will be held at 6PM tonight the the library on the second floor at Xavier High School at 30 West 16th Street. Please attend!

This better not be a 432 Park clone. The square shape on the top-down view seems to point my gut feelings in that direction.
But I'll wait till 6 PM...and they'd better not disappoint.

Someone from here has to try and get to that meeting. And take pictures. And upload the shit out of them. A. S. A. P.

This and 107 (111?) in one day. I'm just about stick-a-fork-in-me done.
