Gatineau had its second of the year over the weekend.

A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death outside a pool room in the western (Aylmer) part of the city.

It was at the Flix Billiard club, I believe.

That's about a five minute drive from my place.

Thankfully, most knives used in stabbings are short blades.

First five months of 2022 and besides Surrey, Abbotsford has one of the highest homicide numbers in BC, it has the highest rate anyway, 5 already this year.

That's as many as cities twice it's size like Saskatoon and Halifax that each have 5 homicides already this year as well.

Kamloops and Kelowna are at two each, Langley is at 3.

and I miss counted Langley that has a population of 29,000,
it had it's 4th homicide already this year!

Is that for Langley City or Langley Township? Langley Township (which included the tiny postage stamp-sized Langley City) is over 100,000 people.

Regardless, Abbotsford and Langley are gang hotbeds. The murders just never seem to end there.

^ two were a homicide in Highway Hotel and the other two were in wooded areas just outside town limits, so indeed the victims and perpetrators may not of even been from Langley or it's township.

Vernon is now up to 3.

St. John's at either 2 or 3, after a homicide in the Kilbride neighborhood. Unsure what it is though, police had released information on a suspicious death a few months ago but never followed up or confirmed if it was a homicide or not.

There's no way Winnipeg doesn't hit 50 this year.

there's only so long the issues plaguing winnipeg can percolate under the radar.. canada's true dirty little secret. if anyone in the federal government can chime on about reconciliation at every press conference, they need to be taken on a tour of the worst parts of this city and have their tune changed.

Anywhere within Manitoba and Saskatchewan really. But, yes, Winnipeg's numbers are staggering this year.

Not a homicide but it could have very easily been. Should be considered an attempted homicide. This is really disturbing. Despite knowing everyone involved, authorities are being rather tight lipped about it.

This is extremely cruel. Who ever did this should be made an example of.

Seems like it was another random attack. The security situation on the TTC has really deteriorated in the past couple years.

This is by no means definitive and shouldn't be taken as 100% accurate, but a data analyst recently compiled a graph showing the incidences of security notices tweeted by the TTC from 2013-2022. Either way it shows a pretty clear trend:
