That may be, but based purely on anecdotal evidence (and from working in several architectural firms over the years), units in buildings designed by him sell. Whether it's Park Hyatt, the Waldorf Astoria, or 2550 Lakeview, there's always been demand for his style.

I'm still obsessed with how much bulk Fulton Market will add over the coming years. The view from the Metra will be astonishing

I'm also obsessed. A big, bustling mid-to-high rise neighborhood of various uses and with a lot of relatively good architecture (and some bad...) was built in like 10 years, and is still growing significantly.

You can see 1400 W Randolph from there ? need to revisit it - I love that bridge, easy parking on the SW corner great view of the loop from the S side, and the less urban view from the N side.

Riu

^ My lord.

It might always fall through.

Imagine being an actual paid professional architect and consciously choosing to include those white columns at the base.

And McDonald’s is the most popular “restaurant” on earth.

Even at higher price points, popularity doesn’t mean quality because most people have poor taste.

Unfortunately... it's going to be architectural cast concrete - aka fake limestone

After following and reporting on so many West Loop projects, I'm still so excited and impressed by what's going on over there.

There's always things to gripe about like the WLDG and how it would be nice for some developers to push the height a little more, or to get rid of parking podiums, but it is certainly exciting to visualize what the area will look like in roughly 5 or less years.

I think the corridor of properties between the Metra tracks and Carroll Avenue will be the most consistent new-construction tower corridor in the entire West Loop - a great thing for canyonization and density, maybe not such a great thing for light and urban variety

Looks decent to me for a not so prominent site.

Besides, if this is “subpar” for you than what is “par”? 15 more years of a vacant lot while proposal after proposal gets approved and goes nowhere (meanwhile our hair grows grayer)

and here we go with the rationalization side of the forum who always says things like "ehh its better than a surface parking lot" or "it looks ok for infill". Sorry but for a lot that is a 100ft off north michigan avenue i would expect better... the last two proposals were so much better and added some height you would think would of been wanted for this location. Again similar to the wolf point discussion in sense these are safe conservative proposals for there locations which always seem to result in mediocre design at best.
