New Crawler Crane

There's a white and red Crawler Crane backing onto the steel above the PATH's new concourse level by the south pool. It looks like it's long enough to fill in that entire area with new steel.

This is what has been worked on the most lately. North Pool, South Pool ( coming along nicely) southwest corner, demolishing the path roof

Well from the PA's quarterly report, they're supposed to be moving steel in to that site by early next year. So I'm guessing that they're hauling ass with the excavation right now. It took them only a few weeks to remove that rock formation, and they're almost level with the Tower 2 and 3 sites.

It's way too early to be thinking about trees. That's years from now.

I thought the memorial was going to be complete by the 10th anniversary of the attacks? In that case, I don't think it's going to be years until there are trees. More like a year or year and a half.

There's a difference between the actual opening date and the planned opening date. The memorial will be open to the public on September 11th, 2011 but it will still be under construction. The pools will be operational, and there will be about 75% of the trees planted. That's what the PA says. The memorial won't be ready for daily use until the following year.
