Once demolition work was complete, activity seemed to pause with no observed action on the site for a span of time. Now, however, it appears additional site preparation work is in progress for the project. Light equipment is on site, and the majority of the property’s footprint is now below street level.

Construction is anticipated to begin this quarter and continue for another 31 months until the building reaches its final completion.

they cant stop something that has already gotten preliminary approval with a new zoning overlay, it would just affect any new projects that are intiated after the overlay becomes law.

Decided to check Atlas for some updates on projects. Pleasantly surprised to report that this got building permits on May 29th. So it’s going up, helipad or no helipad.

In addition to the reconfiguration of the underground parking garage, this appears to have been downgraded by 70 units amongst other changes. Per the amended zoning permit with an issued back in October 2020:

Damn it! That sucks... I was looking forward to another 400+ footer. Still excited for this building.... but still stinks. Probably somewhere around 380-390 feet tall now.

I know. I wonder if the downgrade had something to do with possibly an arrangement with the mural arts program/fiasco or the numbers didn't quite workout via the COVID-19 pandemic?

Oh well, as a consolation prize for us SSP geeks, at least we get increases in stories/height with 1620 Sansom and especially 115 S. 19 St

There are a significant number of proposed projects with varying probabilities of completion. Some are going to make it to the finish line, some are going to be modified, and others are going to die. Receiving updates, even if only minor incremental changes, is definitely helpful to those of us who cannot walk each neighborhood on a regular basis. I wish there were more updates like this one.
