Cub Clothing on West 11th closed (not sure when). Apparently Culture Grooming is taking over the space and using it as a waiting room. Will have a bar, a pool table, etc.

Hope the Cornwall Centre can get its act together with either a grocery store like this, or Goodlife Fitness or Planet Fitness to finally fill the remaining main floor 34,600 sf of Sears space.

Since Midtown Plaza and the Cornwall Centre have dealt with similar leasing issues, why wouldn’t I reference a development that could possibly help the Cornwall Centre fill some of its space?

Total unneeded attitude, StealthGirl.

To be fair, you could have mentioned that at the top of your post. "This is about Saskatoon, but it might give us a glimpse of some of the possibilities for Cornwall Centre." Then StealthGirl wouldn't have to read your mind.

Or just read the post and give a constructive answer? That would be even better.

I don't recall, was this posted previously:
https://www.cornwallcentre.ca/posts/...ew-event-space

Quote:
In late 2021, Cornwall Centre unveiled a brand new community events space, The Studio at Cornwall. The Studio is a community-focused venue that can be booked and programmed by businesses, individuals and organizations for a variety of events, from meetings to pop-up markets to weddings and everything in between! A gathering space to connect, create and discover new experiences, friends and ideas in the heart of Regina, all are welcome to bring this multi-use space to life.

It was mentioned, but worth re-mentioning. It seems to be a hit as more often than not is it being rented out, whether it's for meetings or retail/pop-up shop stuff.

They for sure put more money into the Cornwall Centre version than the Southland Mall space.

Yep, I didn't mean any attitude. I seriously didn't see the connection.

That was my interpretation. The connection wasn't obvious to me either.

In any event, onward we go.

Not quite retail but rumour is Rainbow Cinemas in Golden Mile is shutting down at the end of the month. I guess streaming is starting to kill theatres.

Yeah I'd think 2nd run theatres are the worst hit. I don't think first run theatres are nearly as impacted and they'll be fine.

That's too bad. It's a bad time for movies in general but I think the opportunity is still there if we didn't just have a pandemic. It would be nice if they reno'd the place once in their 25 or so year history.

Yeah. It needs an update. Recently they were renting theatre space out to a religious organization weekly which really calls to hard times. A Reno and maybe new owner might be what it needs.

Ideally expand the Superstore so it's actually a standard size.

That would likely not be practical considering the layout of the mall and the existing tenants and walkway between Rae St and the front parking lot. Is it really that much smaller than the other two?

Definitely a fair bit smaller. I'd guess somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 the size of a normal one. That said, it's usually been good enough for normal grocery runs.

It wouldn't need a liquor store either, which the others have given the other options nearby.

Would love an actual VIP theatre with good seating, food and alcohol drink options.
