Sleepless in San Diego

Had a chance to make a quick trip to San Diego this weekend for a wedding and snapped a few pics while running across the city. With only a day and a half to explore there was no time to waste.

Leaving a frigid Portland November...

To a foggy San Francisco...

And ready to touch down in Sunny San Diego

Our first stop was Old Town and the Whaley House

Making our way Downtown

I HIGHLY recommend the Horton Grand Hotel if you're staying in the Gaslamp Quarter

Started our night at The Nolen

Back to the hotel bar "Salt & Whiskey"

Then off to wander the Waterfront before checking out some nightlife in The Gaslamp

The next morning we shook off the hangovers and picked up some breakfast nearby.

Rode the newly expanded Blue Line through UCSD on the way to the wedding. There was a surpsrising amount of cranes and new construction. Wish I could have taken more photos but we were on a tight schedule and the Uber was waiting.

On the way back to the hotel with a pitstop in Little Italy

Back to the G-----p Quarter

Finally after one more night of fun and a few hours of shuteye it was time for an early flight back home

Seeing these photos reminds me I need to get back to San Diego for a visit! I haven't been there in over a decade. Looks like a good time!

Downtown has a very intersting mix of Victorian buildings and what I would describe as early 90s SoCal mall architecture Haha I feel like in a lot of other places it wouldn't work but somehow San Diego found a way.

Thanks! It was nice getting to see some of the old stomping grounds, even if only from the air.

Many of the night shots look like there is a good amount of architectural lighting in the city.

That was something I had noticed as well & it was nice to see a lot of the newer skyscrapers incorporating it! San Diego's nightlife is very lively & the number of light displays certainly added a lot to it
