Moxy Hotel, I think. DLR Group is the designer. Caisson work is complete; looks like farmland now. http://wp.me/p7uLxw-2da

Proposed 12 story, 34 unit building is up at the next zoning meeting at 360-66 W Superior St. Developer is Belgravia. As of September 2015, they were also looking at building something similar at Erie too.

I believe the developer for 360 W Superior is Ascend, the same people behind Niche 905. Unless that has changed recently?

The test that's most difficult by far for most candidates is the "slide test," where you're shown a picture of a well-known building or monument and must talk for 30 seconds about it. That's as much about extemporaneous speaking ability as it is knowledge, but obviously having the underlying knowledge is what gives you the confidence to speak.
Carl Condit's "The Chicago School..." is wonderful as well.

Does it definitely include 366? I believe the single-story dark brick building at 360 was the only property up for sale on that block.

The only way it's Ascend is if it changed recently. This is an article from Crain's from September 2015

In a River North market that will soon be awash in new apartments, Chicago developer Belgravia Group is avoiding the crowd, mulling plans for two condominium projects on properties it's buying from the city.

Belgravia wants to develop residential buildings that “more likely than not” will be boutique condo projects with about 40 units each on the sites on the 300 blocks of West Superior and Erie streets, said Belgravia Founder David "Buzz" Ruttenberg. The Chicago Plan Commission last week approved the sale of the properties at 366 W. Superior and 356-366 W. Erie to Belgravia ventures for a total of $8.66 million.

The official address of the proposed building is 366 W Superior. See above for the article - 366 sold in 2015 to them.

New 8 story hotel. No official confirmation yet, but indications point to a Moxy Hotel, which is a new brand of Marriott. The owner on the permit is Choxy, which had the same address as White Lodging which has developed and operates numerous national brand hotels all across the country.

There is already one in New Orleans, Munich, Frankfurt, etc and they have plans for NYC, Nashville, Memphis, Denver, Seattle, DC, etc - also Chicago but the interesting thing is that Chicago is not listed on one of their sites for upcoming hotels opening in 2017 or 2018 even though it's in more official (PDF) marketing materials.

My money is on them though.

Anyone know of or have any updates on the Gateway project in the IMD? Have heard nothing about it in months.

Two demolition permits were issued yesterday to tear the body shop down at LaSalle and Erie. I believe it's supposed to be luxury condos (starting at $1.3M), called The Betham.

Here's a more recent article from Curbed (Jan 9, 2017): Renderings reveal 12-story condo project for Sedgwick and Superior

"This latest proposal comes from Ascend Real Estate Group—the same firm behind The Madison at Racine in the West Loop and the soon-to-open Niche 905 apartments on Chicago’s Near North Side. AREG hopes to deliver 360 West Superior’s 34 residences by January of 2019, pending city approval and permits."

Curbed doesn't list a source - just mentions it. The Crain's article is based on real estate data. The fact that it was sold to Belgravia - that is information anybody can get. So, Belgravia could have sold it to the other guys, or Curbed has faulty info.

Looks like Belgravia probably sold it to them then after September 2015 or something happened. Right below that on the page, 360 W Erie is listed with Belgravia which is listed in the Crain's article I linked to as well in the sense that Belgravia was going to develop both.

Anyway, this thing is on the next zoning meeting next week.

Don't think I've seen an actual image of the thing going up next to Green Door before. From the RNRA website:

Looks like a decent contribution of midrise scale to the area. Certainly better than a parking lot.

Yeah, we talked about it - think the image was on here but anyway it's only 6 or so units total for it. Not bad midrise though.

Just imagine the day when all the current lots in river north are built on.

I remember the topic coming up, just must have missed the image. It's 10 units as per the website. Small, but 10 more units than a vacant lot.

I hope they have a better chance of starting construction soon than the 808 N Wells debacle. The existing buildings aren't nearly as classy as the Chicago/Wells ones were, but I still don't like broken-down lots like the one at Clark/Huron (wish there was some news on that).
