Yes, Trouba is paid like he is top-10 defenseman in the NHL. Nowhere close to that.

Right now the Jets have a defenseman playing better than Trouba ever has in Josh Morrissey.

Slow first, but solid 40.

Nice to see Kane get going!

Pretty weak game by the Oil; they just didn't feel like they were present tonight.

A surprisingly fun matinee game to watch today with the Oilers/Sens.

Edmonton should hang on, but you can tell that Ottawa has a bunch of skill that's sneaky and effective.

Thought the Oil would be after a D-man.

They are, but this seems to be their backup plan.

Karlsson or Chychrun

Looks like the Oil ran into a good goalie again or a few too many late-night poutines at the SSC last night in Montreal.

Third game in four nights and the third one was a matinee. Not the easiest bit of schedule.

That was pretty pathetic. However, it's pretty tough to miss the playoffs in the western conference this year. There are so many terrible teams and aside from Edmonton and Colorado, everyone is around .500 in their last 10.

Makes it weird for the Flames coming into the trade deadline. Not good enough to be buyers and not bad enough to be sellers.

Throw in a GM on an expiring contract, I'm not sure that's the guy you want making deals with an uncertain future. Tre is in a really tough spot.

Leafs are going for it!

O'Reilly, Acciari for a boatload of picks and prospects. Both teams in the farm system are in first in their respective divisions, so the club can probably afford to shed some developing talent for the big prize.

I don't think a move like this has ever worked out for the Leafs.

It very rarely works out for anyone, but you have to shoot your shot while you have it. Pittsburgh were avid buyers at the deadline for like six straight years, most of the time the acquisitions were mediocre playoff performers, but as long as it works once...

A Leaf cup win or GTFO. Anything less is unacceptable.

As you've said for the last six years and yet are still here.

Because they never GTFO... they're still around. Still unacceptable.

Up 4-1 and lose 5-4 in a SO.

Bravo Edmonton, bravo.

Hoping that Ranger game can be the turning point in the Flames season.

Great bit of hockey to watch. Mind you, if the Flames are struggling this mightily in the frankly pathetic Western Conference, the hopes can't be too high for them. Pretty appealing season thus far for Calgary.

Meanwhile the Leafs crushed Montreal and O'Reilly got an assist. Acciari had a couple dangerous chances. I'm as fatalistic as all Leafs fans ought to be, but the way they manhandled their sworn enemies tonight was magic.
