A sign of a growing need for inpatient rehab care, Mary Free Bed has filed for regulatory approval with MIDHHS to add 20 beds to its 119-bed facility on Wealthy St. 18 of the 20 beds would go in a shell space on the 6th floor of the new patient tower that opened 5 years ago -

Northpointe Bank just celebrated its ribbon cutting for its new Operations Center in the former Cascade Commons, a few weeks ago. It's nice to see this tired facility get some new life -

The added greenery is nice. I'm not crazy about the planters themselves. I just get the feeling that they will not age well -

What a difference this makes at street level. A good example of how urban renewal-era interventions can be reconnected to the urban context at a personal scale -

Here's an article on the redevelopment project that is happening at 1601 Madison Ave. SE (Madison Square). It announces that Cleveland-based tech company MCPc will be an anchor tenant when the project wraps up in 2022, bringing with them an estimated 100 new jobs to the area -

I feel like I'm probably "over-featuring" this suburban project, but I found some more photos of the dynamic interior, and it is just 100x better than what it was before the redevelopment -

The Grand Rapids Public Museum just announced plans for a $64 million expansion, the first expansion since its original opening in 1994. The 4-story addition will feature a café, artifact labs for students, more exhibit space, and better access to the Grand River.

Construction is still a ways out - currently anticipated to begin in 2023.

IF this happens, it will be huge news for BOTH SE Michigan and West Michigan. It would result in an employee base 64,000 strong, and 22 hospitals across the state.

That temporary crane was installed in March - April 2019. We're closing in on 2 1/2 years!

There was a groundbreaking this past Wednesday for the new operations center at the airport. The 11,600 SF building will consolidate many operations under one roof. DLZ Corp. is the architect and Pioneer Construction is the general contractor.
