ORCA Project | CRAFT, Kingsmen Group Inc. and Fengate Asset Management | Safdie & Associates | LPAT approved
The proponents of the massive Safdie master-planned community was
approved by the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal this week, paving the way for the city-building vision to move forward… or be ‘outted’ as the density/value exercise critics claim it is.
Caveat: unlike some other often transparent “up-zoning” efforts by developers, ORCA has submitted architectural plans, Environmental Site Assessments, servicing reports, civil engineering plans etc. etc. If this is a sleight-of-hand zoning exercise,
it’s certainly the most expensive one in city history ;-).
The Vision - decking the rail corridor from Bathurst Street to Blue Jays Way: 6 mixed-use residential towers (with skybridge connections), an office tower at Spadina and 13 acres of park/open space.
Reminder of some of the render porn for the project.
