Here's what you can see of the demo from street level:

The crane is for the project next to the YMCA building on Turk. Jerry can get better pictures of that (from above) than I thought I could.

Like a beehive of activity today:

But I have to say that these pictures were taken from McAllister St. Over on Golden Gate the scene--homeless smoking something from glass pipes everywhere--is worse than ever. One wonders what UC is going to do about it. They've already sued and reached a settlement with the city but the city doesn't seem to be honoring it at all.

I walked down Golden Gate a few days ago and surreptitiously peeked into every tent I could and every one contained someone with a pipe in their hand and a glazed look (so I assume it's not crack or speed but some opiate they are smoking).

Quite a lot of progress on the excavation. And by the way, the "Urban Alchemy" folks the city has stationed on the nearby blocks are living up to their names. Haven't seen the area so clean and free of drug peddlers in years. The former drug bazaar at Hyde & Golden Gate had no one looking like they were selling today and no one hanging around and no tents. Walking up another block to Turk gave some indication of where they all went though. From Larkin east toward Union Square was a littered campground in spite of a couple of the alchemy guys trying to maintain a little order. From Larkin west, including the new building at Larkin & Turk (former tire shop) which is still covered up, all was clear though.

Crane operating today and looks like they are about to start pouring concrete--lots of rebar on site:

Apologies for the image--had to take the one into the excavation through some very dirty plastic.

Are those caisson caps drilled in to the dirt? If so, this one is officially under construction and can be moved.

Malcom is the company that does such work in the Bay Area and in earlier photos their equipment of the type that does it is seen in those locations so I believe so.

Should this be moved to under construction now?

Excavation Underway For 198 McAllister Street, Civic Center, San Francisco

BY: ANDREW NELSON 5:30 AM ON JANUARY 31, 2022

Construction work is humming along for 198 McAllister Street, phase two for the UC Hastings Academic Village plan in the San Francisco Civic Center neighborhood. The development is a joint venture between UC Hastings College of the Law and Greystar Real Estate Partners. Once complete, the 14-story building will contribute 667 dorm beds for graduate students at UC Hastings and neighboring schools above three floors of academic facilities.

Build Group is the project contractor responsible for building 198 McAllister Street. Speaking with SFYIMBY, UC Hastings CFO David Seward confirmed that construction is on schedule. The building is expected to be finished next year, with move-ins by July 2023. Seward has been responsible for orchestrating the school’s transformation.

UC Hastings Academic Village is a four-phase master plan aiming to expand the school’s footprint in the city without displacement, increase the lodging capacity of the campus fivefold, and provide students with state-of-the-art facilities to maintain modern academic standards.

Phase one finished with the new Cotchett Law Center at 333 Golden Gate Avenue, with architecture by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Phase three, scheduled for 2023 to 2025, will renovate the 28-story mixed-use tower at 100 McAllister Street, also by Perkings&Will. Phase four, the final component, will create a new building at 201-247 Golden Gate Avenue, offering new facilities for UNITE HERE Local 2, including a union hall and offices above academic and residential facilities.

^^Seems this needs to be moved to the under construction section. Will ask.

Sorry, homebucket. Just noticed your question and the answer seems to be, "Yes". I have made the request.
