I love how drones show us new angles we've never seen before

Same as old version but only renovated with new materials that keeps a similar design.

I always found the "which city in Canada is most beautiful?" debate a bit odd because it's subjective and the cities don't necessarily overlap much in what they offer somebody who has discerning urban tastes. Even if you crown a winner there's a lot that other places have that you won't find there.

It also gets a bit odd when you're comparing say Montreal and Quebec City or Victoria because Montreal is so much bigger. You could carve out an inner-city-Victoria-sized part of Montreal that is pretty much all very nice heritage buildings. Old Montreal is about the size of downtown Victoria. Toronto is of course bigger too but doesn't really have anything like Old Montreal. Though it does have nice old Edwardian and Victorian neighbourhoods that are pretty extensive, that we just don't have equivalents to here in BC.

I have enough of all this negativity from the haters. I will stop posting pics in this thread as of now. Maldive, Torontodrew and all the others can have this thread all for themselves and make sure that Toronto dominates it, like it does for the rest of the Canadian forum. Have fun guys.
I'm sorry for all this nonsense! I love all of your images and I regret not posting enough encouraging replies. Yes I'm busy but that's no excuse. Clearly the negative voices are drowning out everything else and while they're entitled to an opinion, they don't speak for everyone.

WE LOVE MARTIN!!

I do think Montreal has the best urban fabric. Excellent layering of old and new. A few other cities like Quebec City, Vancouver, Victoria and Halifax also excel in that aspect. Winnipeg has huge potential with a rich stock of early 20th century buildings, and has improved significantly over the last two decades adding some solid modern in between.
The fun part about Montreal is that it does modern and old so well together.

You get drone videos of the skyscrapers that make it seem like a 21st century metropolis. Then you get the small-scale urbanity of Le Plateau from street level. A true fusion of the old-world and the new.

There's only a handful of places that can match it. New York comes to mind.

Agree. There's no right answer only cities that get mentioned more than others. When people ask I never know which city to pick.

Martin's extremely well curated selections of photos are one of the main reasons I come to this thread. And it isn't just Montreal – his posts of Ottawa and Quebec City photos have been fantastic as well.

If people don't like seeing so many great images of Montreal, maybe they should post their own photos instead of complaining.

If people don't like seeing photos of cities, maybe they should just not click on the thread clearly titled "post some pictures of your city". What else would you expect to see here?

Martin, your Montreal posts are a highlight of my visits to this forum.

The lowlights are these incomprehensible explosions of vitriol over minor perceived slights.

I brought this up with the moderators. My preference is that in the future if we see this kind of negativity directed at a forumer it gets deleted, perhaps with warnings and suspensions following if the posts continue.

The photo postings in here are exactly what the thread is for and this is one of the core parts of SSP's content. Also, we already have another photo thread that is limited in photos per post (the "few photos" one). People who have a problem with the bigger posts here can follow that one instead.
