Look bro, it isn’t that serious. Objectively you’re right: Vancouver has more secondary and tertiary nodes than Chicago, but personally I think Chicago’s substantially larger primary node outweighs that fact.

What I’m more surprised about is that nobody has dinged me for not including Phoenix. That is a truly objectionable omission, but not quite as glaring as that I left off Jacksonville.

But overall, I don't think you can realistically rank Chicago ahead of Vancouver for secondary skylines.

Chicago has an unbelievably giant and tall downtown clump that far surpasses anything in Vancouver,

but 99% of the non-downtown highrises in the entire metro area are all piled up along the lakefront.

There are no real inland secondary skyscraper nodes of note.

The quality of buildings , specifically the amount of pre-war high rise stock in Chicago, is also significantly more comprehensive than Toronto, Vancouver or Miami.

Chicagos beauty , layout and orderliness is unmatched. It's a curated museum of the skyscraper which can never be replicated. Even though Toronto has the edge in volume with all the construction and proposals and multiple nodes , the quality isnt there.

No, give Vancouver credit. I love the residential vernacular. And Vancouver's parking is mostly underground unlike Miami (which builds vast amounts of it) and even Chicago.

Well yeah. Chicago and NYC are the planet's two great skyscraper museums.

But I was only taking about skyline size (height and #buildings), not more subjective assessments like architectural quality.

Miami's pre-war high rise stock is virtually non-existent. Miami was a small town before WWII.

NYC from Newark NJ's Ironbound District. Three skylines, with Jersey City fused into Lower Manhattan. As Journal Square fills up, will add a larger node to this perspective.

NY's multiple skyline nodes. LIC can even be seen. Zoomed in version. Original via credit link.

Several months ago, reference 270 Park's u/c benchmark at the time. But nevertheless, good stuff!

^ That's a pretty cool living roof on that tower towards the bottom of the photo there.

Reminds me of the California Academy of Science (designed by Renzo Piano) in SF.

I also see New Westminster poking out way in the background. And Edmonds.

There are many, but, they get overshadowed by the new taller buildings.

Miami had only 172,172 residents at the time of the 1940 census.
