Here's a recent shot of Salt Lake City showcasing the giant blemish that is the Block 40 parking lot. SLC has huge 10-acre blocks (660' square) and, among other things, this one used to have
a beautiful hotel and
a well-known music venue before being razed in the 1980s and left as a parking lot. Nowadays it acts as a pedestrian barrier that unofficially delineates downtown's south terminus.
On the flip side, the redevelopment potential of this block is massive given its location and transit access, so I look forward to seeing what is proposed here in the near future.
