Steveve’s latest downtown Toronto Future Model looking north-west at the downtown core from the lake to Bloor/Yorkville.

Grey is Built, blue is Under Construction and pink is Approved and Proposed (but not started).

Includes 2 supertalls under construction (SkyTower and The One), a 3rd that is listed @ 299m but has one elevation @300m+ (Concord Sky) and a 4th that may start sooner than expected (early 2024?) after its shorter Phase 1 @ 263m sold-out
very quickly and began site demolition (Frank Gehry's FORMA - Phase 2 @ 308m).


Lots of 200 metre+ under construction and approved/proposed in there as well. Scroll a bit>>>

A whole bunch of big ones have been approved...

A number of big ones are in site prep too, and will be U/C soon... namely the 3 tallest Sugar Wharf towers and Forma East.

I chatted with Stephen about the "Approved" issue however in order to capture some more projects that are actually underway, Approved isn't the way to go... projects can sit dormant for years after being Approved.

I did suggest that was a project activity gap between U/C and Proposed that could capture those projects that are actually underway (demolition, shoring, excavation etc.) but not technically U/C, though definitions vary as to what U/C means.

That would yield an even better snapshot of actual project activity (lots of stuff without a crane yet) than just Approved.

He agreed and we'll talk again about managing the work involved lol.

Keeping things up to date takes a lot of time. Adding more elements means even more time to keep things up to date or more things in need of updating.

I wish he would make under construction green and proposed blue.

Projects have gone dormant/cancelled after demolition has occurred.

I also presume all three Sugar wharf towers will rise at the same time. I haven't seen any firm confirmation of thst. There's signs in the pics they may be through the slow, arduous remediation phase.

But hey, even u/c projects could stall which I expected you to mention.

In any case, no-one can see the future... but capturing active projects that presently are lumped into proposals would improve the snapshot, which afterall is just for 'scraper sh*ts and giggles... yet would be more informative.

And yes it would be a lot of work which is why I told Stephen I'd chip in... I'm tracking/reporting most of it anyway.
