Your City's Best Building Built This Century

Pretty simple premise, what is the single best building your city has constructed since 2000? Please keep it at 1. My city itself has plenty to choose from, but Boston's clear best is the ~750', 61 story 1 Dalton, which serves as a Four Seasons Hotel and Residences. To date it's the only Boston building to win an award in excellence from the CTBUH.

The dark triple-glazed curved glass make this one a real winner. The building is actually in the shape of a triangle. It was completed in 2019.

Overall this is my 3rd favorite building in the city, besides the tallest John Hancock Tower from 1976, and the Custom House from 1915. Feel free to comment about it, and/or please share what you believe is your city's new/newish best building since 2000.

I think for Nashville it has to be the 305 foot West End Tower, which is a residential tower for Vanderbilt University completed in 2021. Yeah... I know, I know, it's Nashville, and that's a dirty word, but I personally think this would be a welcome addition to any community:

Some might say Salesforce Tower (which won CTBUH's “Best Tall Building Worldwide" in 2019), but I personally like 181 Fremont the most.

This is a 55 floor, 810 ft tall mixed use tower, of office, residential, and retail, completed in 2017.

The facade with its aluminum-clad steel braces is evocative of I.M. Pei's iconic Hong Kong skyscraper, the Bank of China. The curtain wall glass features angled mullions against one another to provide additional shade inside and create a scale-like exterior.

I rode my bike around that ballpark on my way home a thousand times, probably more. What a great civic monument. One of my last memories with my Mom was a game there.

The Administration Building is the first structure of what will be a major extension of downtown. Greenville County Square will replace the old Belltower Mall, which was built in the 70's, failed, and was taken over by the county for its government offices. When built out, Greenville County Square will have the county offices again, but will also feature hotels, residential buildings, and lots of shopping. About twenty national retailers have already committed to the project. Here's a rendering of what the project will look like when built out. The Administration Building is in the foreground:

My Favorite: The super underrated Cira Centre designed by César Pelli. With no right angles nor curves, it's shaped like a 437ft diamond. It has one of the most dynamic LED-lighting schemes in the world, and holds the distinction having the 'largest tetris game' ever played on the side of it. Most nights it has some scrolling logo or saying on it.

The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. The exterior may not be spectacular, but more importantly, it's acoustically impeccable. It is home to the Canadian Opera Company and the National Ballet of Canada. Completed in 2006, the building was designed by Canadian firm Diamond & Schmitt Architects. I've attended numerous times to see productions like South Pacific and The Nutcracker.

tough question, but for Boise I'd have to go with the Boise State Center for the Visual Arts, which won a 2020 American Architecture Award in the Culture and Museums category.

For Vancouver, it's probably the Vancouver House, but I quite like Kengo Kuma's building as well.

For high-rises, my favorite is Pacific Gate. In a century when boxy balconied towers dominate the skyline, this one just has nice smooth curves. It's a block from the waterfront so it's not too hidden in the skyline (for now).

Boston built the office version of that, the 611' One Congress which serves as the new State Street headquarters. They both look great! If not for 1 Dalton it might have been my choice here instead.
