African Buildings

Hi. I have recently seen many skyline pictures of many African cities, and many have skylines that beat out many cities that SSP currently has completely diagrammed. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the African cities. Many major cities have many tall buildings listed, but have no drawings! And others still are missing many tall buildings that I'm sure would get diagrammed if they were in another part of the world. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no diagramming talent, but I have the utmost respect for those who can do it, and as a request (or challenge) to you guys, I would like to see some more African buildings on here. I'm sorry I can't be more specific because the lack of drawings is in pretty much every city, but some particularly lacking cities are Nairobi, Cairo, Abidjan, and Abuja.

By all means Vid, take your time.

You have to understand there are VERY FEW illustrators that are regulars, anymore. And most of the regulars concentrate on their own personal list of skyscrapers they want to do. This is a rarely visited forum.

I'm surprised that the drawing in diagrams has dropped off, as the forum otherwise has probably increased three-fold in traffic/posts the past few years.

One of the main problems with drawing buildings in African cities is the lack of photos and information of them. Cairo has most likely 2000+ 12 storey buildings but where could you get information about them???

You know, I think I will try some. I'm not guaranteeing a lot of quality, but you gotta start somewhere. One of my problems is that I only have MS Paint to work with, so that kind of sucks.

MS Paint is great to start with, start off with easy buildings (less than 20 storeys and nothing fancy, stick to modernist buildings at first) then eventually you can work your way up to a 2:1 scale and add more detail.

Once you get a little better, paint.net has some neat features to make diagrams more realistic. Just practise. Draw what you see.

P.S It's envisioned to become Africa's Tallest, and is still in the planning stages.
