Valleys and Lakes

I mentioned them on pics 27-32. Here we see the western façade of Downtown's skyline from the Água Fresca Ravine:

3 km southwards we have Igapó Lakes complex. Pics on the banks of Lake Igapó I, the oldest of them. The skyline of Gleba Palhano, Londrina's booming district:

Thanks for the tour! Impressive density and I was impressed with number of streets/sidewalks that were made of attractive pavers versus the standard poured concrete most US cities have. That attention to detail really helps the character of the streets ape.

Wow this looks like a nice place.

Maringá

That's Londrina's rival, 80 km westwards as the crow flies. It's younger (incorporated in 1951) and more dynamic than Londrina. 550,000 inh. in its urban area and growing fast. It's well known for its tree-lined streets and the conic-shaped, 118m/387ft high Cathedral.

Maringá was also planned by the British, and as Londrina, settled mostly by Italians and it's the 3rd largest Japanese diaspora in Brazil after São Paulo and Londrina, and one of the largest in the world. Also one of the most important agribusiness centres in the country:

After two years, I returned to Londrina this weekend (Nov 2022).

Days were glorious, the sky and luminosity just perfect. Like magic. And here the same valley from post #22. It was noon on Friday, the whole park for us. We brought a bottle of wine and peanuts and sat under this tree in the centre:

Yes! It's such a contrast with São Paulo. We had a big park, with a skyline view, only for us for two hours!

Londrina is full of green areas, scattered all over the city. São Paulo, on the other hand, suffers with the lack of them.

LGBT Pride Parade

Londrina hosted their Pride Parade this weekend too (Nov 2022). Quite big and in a very different setting. It was not actually a parade as the previous years, but more like a party on a football pitch in the middle of one of the valleys:

London err Londrina looks like a very nice, livable city.

I'm going to assume that's your Mom and possibly your husband?

Yes, both! It was a great holiday. Too bad I get caught up on work here in SP and I don’t go visit her more often.
