Multiple cities in Canada experience low -30s and even -40 in the winter.

Edmonton
Calgary (although less so)
Saskatoon
Regina
Winnipeg

With many cities hitting -20+ including

Toronto
Ottawa
Montreal
QC

We are pretty far north and so when an arctic airmass comes down it gets very cold a a period of time.

That said, we also can experience 30+C in the summer and during the winter have wild fluctuations.

A week ago it was -30, this week it is +5C.

The lows in Toronto get into the mid -30C's as it was 2 nights ago. Beside in BC, every city in Canada can get this cold.
Edit: yes i am referring to windchill temperatures

If you're talking with wind chill sure, but if not, Halifax certainly doesn't. We've never had a recorded temp -30C or lower based on the official weather station at the airport which is well outside the urban heat island and further from the moderating effect of the ocean. For us, anything below -10 is severe cold with the most extreme polar vortex events usually being -15 to -20.

Toronto does not get lows in the -30s, almost unheard of. Two nights ago it was -21c, and that is very cold for Toronto. Windsor very often goes through a winter with the coldest lows of only -15C or -18C, -20s are very rare, our coldest average monthly low for January is -8C.

January 4, 13 both dipped below -30C's and the 5th was at -29.4C in Toronto

Sure, although -30C is still almost unheard of in Toronto. 2013 was a severe polar vortex year, so that’s about the only time that it can get that cold in the city.

Balance and harmony are key to urban skyline photo, not from the river showing wow RC is so special from others.

Thanks! I absolutely agree the RC being back from the core instead of forward as seen along the river gives a proper balance otherwise lacking. My favorites are set back slightly more so laying out some midtown density at the foot of the skyline while adding extra width provided by the AT&T building cluster & DTE HQ.

I don’t have a good example at hand right now but here’s a couple older shots along those lines. This one from a position slightly further NW would include the mid rises around the cultural center & Wayne St. campus.

Hudson's site is going to absolutely dominate this view. Ally Detroit Center is 619' and Hudson's will be 685' and is 1/4 mile closer to the camera. It should look taller than RC from this vantage.
